What did I compete in?

The Softwarechallenge Germany is a country wide programming competition that selects a new game each year for groups from various schools and institutions around germany to compete in. The finalists are then invited to participate in the finals directly in Kiel in a live viewing event that ends with the victors gaining a scholarship for the university in Kiel. Needless to say, receiving that scholarship was a dream come true.

The competition

During the competition, the countries' participants were split into multiple groups, where the schools' bots would compete in head to head matches, with points being awarded for points scored inside the game. Within my group we did frequent meetings to discuss and work out strategies which I would later implement using the provided API. My implementation of a modified minmax algorithm earned us a spot in the finals.
